Hello!
So I fully realize this suggestion is not an insignificant amount of work, probably, and may also not fit into the model of what you're trying to achieve - but may provide an interesting intermediary step between free and paid - as well as accomplish a few other things:
---
What if at the landing page for a TOX, or maybe at the checkout, an option existed that allowed the user to donate for a free download a number of their choice?
As someone who's studied and learned TD aggressively over several years, I know full on how much of that knowledge came from other very generous programmers and devs. Lot's of people on the facebook group and on the forums have uploaded mind blowing examples and full fledged modules for free.
One example of something like this out in the world today is Humble Bundle
https://www.humblebundle.com/
I've also seen some music artists and other groups from time to time employ a similar strategy with the release of some form of content.
---
I think this could benefit the community in a few ways:
A) There is a massive pool of free things on facebook / forums, this could help encourage developers to gather their work together, touch it up, and put it on here with an optional donation option (vs charging for something that was free before, which most would not even consider)
B) People who have benefited greatly from things in the past will get a second fresh look at some of these things and get a chance to donate, if they'd like.
C) ChopChopChop may see a larger chunk of initial uploads and assets with this in mind, which could help buffer the size of the tox database initially.
D) Hopefully encourages people to catalog their excellent work, into an excellent and searchable space like this!
Just food for thought!
Lucas
An integrated donation option perhaps?
sounds like a really interesting plan Lucas.
As I really want to keep the free spirit in the community, as that helped us all to grow to where we are now, but some donations can help convince somebody to update his asset a bit more, and I really like the idea of getting a second look at something/someone who helped a you lot in the past and now being able to donate something.
I'll add it to the list of things to look at.

I really like this idea Lucas and Idz, I will definitely contribute to the work offered for free. Awesome work on the site and in your endeavors, you are both an inspiration to me.
